Dothraki arakhs are made of iron. Jon mentions that they have Valarian steel and dragon glass but they give that to the archers and random peasants inside the fortress. The Dothraki are shown carrying their own distinctly curved swords. Nobody could have predicted that Melisandre would show up at the last minute, set their blades on fire and make the tools marginally more useful. That event couldn't possibly have been part of the battle strategy because Melisandre just randomly wanders out of the woods and wasn't present during any of the war council scenes. Something like 100,000 Dothraki, who up until this moment have never been depicted as completely devoid of self preservation instincts, volunteered to sacrifice themselves and their horses, for no reason or greater tactical benefit, while knowingly wielding weapons about as useful as pool noodles.

might be a controversial take, but I approve of them cutting Maelor. At this point we already have plenty of characters to pay attention and form attachment to, and Maelor in the books was not a character, he was a plot device. The point of B&C is that Helaena is forced to choose one of her children to die, which she does. Her choosing to sacrifice her only son also creates a very interesting succession situation that mirrors the dilemma of season 1: Just like his father before him, Aegon II is suddenly faced with his heirs being his daughter or his ambitious brother. While book B&C rubbing in the cruelty with their "remember she chose you to die" bit is certainly dramatic, it doesn't fit with the way they characterized show B&C. They are much less sadistic henchmen of Daemon as they are opportunists in need of coin (Cheese) or with a grudge against the hightowers (Blood). It makes sense that they want to get what they came for and leave as soon as possible instead of standing around to gloat. What I didn't get is why they chose to have Helaena walk into Cole and Alicent banging. its such a weird thing tonally, especially since their sexual relationship was already established earlier in the episode. going from the horrific murder of a child to that seems bizarre.

I think it brought the same message to the story and will still have the same impact regardless of the details. The book version is arguably a little more dark and heavy handed psychologically but I think the end goal is still achieved. Sometimes if it’s the exact same as the books it’s not as fun.

Rewatched season six last week and yeah, you're so right about the Battle of the Bastards. If you don't think about it at all, this battle is simply phenomenal. The action and sense of horror and chaos is simply incredible and draws me in like little else. However, once you start to think about it some more, things start to fall apart a bit. In addition to what you mentioned, it's such a glaring oversight that despite mentioning it before the battle, Ramsay not fighting for his people while Jon does and Ramsay being generally hated in the North while the Starks in general and Jon in particular are worthy of loyalty just had no impact on the outcome whatsoever.

As far as Randal Tarly goes, I wish they had kept him alive long enough to go to Dragon Stone, meet the newly cured Sir Jorah, and have said knight basically call him a loser who constantly makes poor decisions while Sam is braver and smarter than anyone gives him credit for. About Blood and Cheese : don't forget that the Fire and Blood books are told through an historian point of view : the narrator of the story wasn't there at all when it happened, and as we've seen in season 1, there is a lot of events that turned out to be villifying propaganda of the Blacks in the book, like if it was influenced by the crown to make the Green appear as the good guys. It's totally possible that the Blood And Cheese incident was romanced in the same way to make it look like they were completely evil... Not like Maelor or Haelena could tell the tale anyway.

I would have been perfectly fine with Lyanna Mormont, Podrick Payne, and Missandei in this list if you agreed they were better than numbers 8, 9, and 10. Euron was in just as many episodes as Lyanna according to IMDB.

i just saw the series and i think it actually slowly started to decline after season 2. the only reason season 4 is popular is because its right after the red wedding, setting the tone that anything can happen making season 4 that much more thrilling, but if you already know what happens when you see it like i did, then in my opinion season 1 and 2 is better

The one thing I think the change to Blood and Cheese takes away from is Daemon's brutality. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the change, and I agree the ambiguity they added was clever, but at the same time it completely removes the implication that Daemon targeted Aegon's children on purpose and it makes what he did less egregious because he can just say "I told them to kill Aemond, not the children". But, from what I recall in the book, Daemon targets Aegon's kids because he doesn't believe Aemond would act without a command from the King (referring to killing Luke), so he tells them to kill Aegon's eldest son and heir. So the whole thing with Helaena picking which child was a sadistic game by the assassins, since they supposedly had been ordered to kill the eldest boy all along and were never going to let her choose. But again, I don't mind the change. Before it aired I felt the need to warn my mother that the next episode would probably contain something horrifying so I'm glad they toned it down. lol

It's even easier. Part of a squire's job is to dress the knight. While donning and doffing his armor, Loras's squire would have obviously noticed a huge fucking birthmark.

I did not like the relationship between Lucy and Maximus happening so fast. It was wayyyyy too rushed it needed time to marinate and I wasn't excepting a kiss until deeper into Season 2 now they're basically head over heels over each other. It's to artificial and just feels like a forced romance. Other than that this show is an easy 8/10

Hot take. Given time for him to mature… Aegon would be a good king. And not for nothing but if you stampede all over one ancient tradition, what’s gonna stop everyone from not taking the other traditions seriously?.. I’m SO team Green. If I were Aegon I would do my best to tame Aemond while putting him in charge of warfare, maybe even in charge of the city watch, keep Otto as hand, banish Larys back to Harrenhal (or kill him off) and make destroying the blockage the main priority.

Diegetic and non-diegetic are my favorite terms when it comes to performance art, the most popular being plays, musicals, shows, series, and movies. For those that don't know, diegetic means that it's happening in the world of the characters and non-diegetic means that only the audience can see or hear. The simplest example of the difference is a character playing a song at a party is diegetic, but that same song playing over a scene in the woods with no speakers around is non-diegetic since only the audience can hear it. It's something that almost everyone understands without ever learning the term for it. I always laugh when I hear a criticism that something like breaking out in song is so unrealistic when it's clearly not happening in the world, but expressing what the character or characters are feeling internally without using dialogue or narration. That doesn't mean non-diegetic scenes can't be criticized as they can still be done poorly or seen as filler, but it doesn't seem fair to criticize something as being unrealistic if it's clearly non-diegetic.

The Ahsoka show is not as bad as people try to make you seem it is, but it’s not the best Star Wars show ever. I like the show, I love Ahsoka as my favorite character in all of media, but I have to admit it’s not the best.

I think blood and cheese being done this way is actually better than the books. Blood and cheese are just there to get a head to make money and pay off debts. What personal reasons would they have to be so extra about it as to try to scar the family? Maybe blood has a reason cause he said “fuck the Hightowers” but that isn’t convincing enough for me. The scene before builds up tension as they struggle to find Aemond. There’s a sense of urgency in both the music and their actions. It wouldn’t make any sense for them to then go through the whole “make Helaena choose which son dies” with that much urgency present

The one thing I REALLY hated about Season 2 is that it focused solely on one technical problem instead of we were promised in the last season (the Kangs are coming). I wished we just had one Kang appearing (Timely doesn't count, I mean one of the Kang the Conquerors) because this season apparantely forgot that Kang is supposed to be the next big bad.

Keep in mind gray worm is probably fifty years younger than sir barriston so his body will be able to heal better

One good change.........nope none. Not saying changes couldn't or shouldn't be made, just that every change they did make was fundamentally bad. Even the 41st. Whilst a good idea theoretically it completely contradicts Ozai's arrogance and villainy. Like turning Azula into an insecure Welp looking for Daddies approval contradicts both Azula's and Ozai's confidence in eachother making them weaker and less of a powerhouse threat. All the writers and half the actors should be at a job fair. We lost out on Final Space, Snowpiercer and a few other brilliant to at least half decent shows to this dumpster fire of sh*t.

D&D were hired to _adapt_ books not _write_ them based on the vague plot directions scribbled on used BBQ-sauce covered napkins.

The first seaspn intro showed the targaryen bloodline, and changed every episodes due to the characters having children. But now, there won't be luch time skips anymore, so it would have remained the same for quite a while. I say they made a good choice by changing, and my theory is thay it will now gradually depict what will happen in future episodes. Like, for the second episode of season 2, they may add the blood and cheese event
